HomeEventsCHRISTMAS IN LYMINGTON! – 8th December 2016

MC Jonathan Klein got the evening underway with Jackson Browne’s “Rebel Jesus”, the Christmassy “Winter Wonderland” and one of his own, “Sleeping With The Saints”. Up next was Henry Campion. He sang James Taylor’s “Country Road”, Bob Dylan’s “Too Many Mornings”, “Dead Dog Scrumpy” by Trevor Crozier and George Gershwin’s classic Christmas song, “Summertime”!

Following Henry was Rob Fenner. Rob performed “Well Respected Man” by Ray Davies, a song he co-wrote about his home town, “Penzance, Men’s Pants”, Smokey Robinson’s “Tears Of A Clown” and “Love Potion No. 9” written in 1959 by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller and a big hit in the Sixties for ‘The Searchers’. Finally for the first half, Paul Taylor. He sang one of his own songs “Moments”, Buddy Holly’s “That’ll Be The Day”, “Love In Vain” by Robert Johnson, and “That’s Alright Mama”, a song written and originally performed by blues singer Arthur Crudup, recorded‎ July 5, 1954 at ‎Sun Studio‎ in ‎Memphis and famously to become Elvis Presley’s first release.
After the break and raffle, Jonathan Klein performed Greg Lake’s “I Believe In Father Christmas”.
SOMETHING VERY STRANGE HERE: Whilst typing this I thought I would look up Greg Lake on the net and was shocked to discover he has passed away… TODAY! R.I.P. Greg Lake.
Jon Rowson came to the stage and performed “Delia” by Blind Willie McTell, Steve Knightley’s medley of Pink’s “Try” and Dylan’s “Boots Of Spanish Leather”, “Po’ Boy” by Bob Dylan and the blues standard “Cocaine Blues”.
Our last performer of the evening was singer/songwriter John Meriton. He sang “Crown Of Dreams”, “Little Dylan”, “Walking In Berlin”, “This Place Is Where Love Grows” and “The Dog I Know”.
